Whisky Toddy
2 measures Black Dog Scotch Whisky
Pared rind and juice of lemon
1 tablespoon clear honey
Boiling water
Put the lemon rind and juice into a heatproof glass. Use a metal spoon to stir in the honey, then pour in a little boiling water and stir to dissolve the honey. Add the Scotch, then top up with more boiling water to taste. Stir well occasionally, as you sip the soothing concoction.

Whisky Sour
Two parts of McDowell’s No. 1 Whisky
One part of fresh lime juice
A teaspoon of sugar per glass
A cocktail cherry
A slice of orange
Ice cubes
Place five or six ice cubes in a cocktail shaker. Add the whisky, lime juice and sugar. Shake well and strain into a cocktail glass. Serve decorated with the slice of orange and cocktail cherry speared together on a stick.

Manhattan
Three parts McDowell’s No. 1 Whisky
One part sweet vermouth
A cocktail cherry
Ice cubes
Place six ice cubes in a bar glass and add whisky and vermouth. Stir thoroughly, then strain into a chilled lowball glass. Decorate with a cocktail cherry on a stick.

Benedict
Three parts of McDowell’s No. 1 Whisky
One part Benedictine Ginger ale
A slice of lemon
Ice cubes
Place two ice cubes in a bar glass, add whisky and Benedictine, stir well and strain into a low ball glass. Top up with ginger ale and decorate with a slice of lemon.

Brainstorm
One part McDowell’s No. 1 Whisky
One part Benedictine
One part dry vermouth
A slice of orange
Crushed ice
Place three tablespoons of crushed ice in a bar glass. Pour the whisky, Benedictine and vermouth over the ice. Stir and strain into a cocktail glass, then serve decorated with the orange slice.
